All of Gabrielė Prišmantaitė's (born in 1990) paintings have one thing in common - the sensation of wind flowing through them. The grasses she paints seem to sway and ripple, stirred by invisible currents - bending, rustling, and rising again.

The artist herself describes painting as a way of tapping into the mystery of nature, where every single flower contains the universe within itself and that's why every stem, every blade of grass is painted with such tenderness and care. These artworks represent a magical moment when the whisper of nature silences our inner monologue and we are overcome by calm and peace, rooted in the present moment, unbothered neither by the past nor the future.

The metaphor of waving grasses is especially evocative. Swayed and rustled by the wind, the stems bend but do not break. Nature's beauty reveals itself as resilient, enduring, and unyielding. These paintings are particularly suited for a space where one seeks a sense of peace and harmony.

About this artwork+

A delicate interplay of autumnal flora is beautifully captured in this painting. Wispy strands of grass populate the foreground in varying shades of vibrant green and yellow, hinting at their battle against the impending winter's chill. Amidst these, darker green leaves, some tinged with yellow, suggest the decay that accompanies fall. A prominent feature in the composition is a cluster of reeds and darker plants, spiked with purple and deep burgundy berries that provide a stark contrast to the lighter colors. The highlight of the painting is undoubtedly the gracefully arching plant at the center, adorned with drooping red and pink blossoms, which evoke a melancholic yet serene aesthetic typical of the season. The textures are subtly detailed, lending a lifelike quality to the plants, as if a gentle breeze could awaken them to dance slowly. The overall palette of deep purples, vibrant greens, and touches of yellow and red encapsulates the essence of autumn's undergrowth in a quiet, nearly whispered, celebration of natural decay and the beauty it brings.
