All of Gabrielė Prišmantaitė's (born in 1990) paintings have one thing in common - the sensation of wind flowing through them. The grasses she paints seem to sway and ripple, stirred by invisible currents - bending, rustling, and rising again.

The artist herself describes painting as a way of tapping into the mystery of nature, where every single flower contains the universe within itself and that's why every stem, every blade of grass is painted with such tenderness and care. These artworks represent a magical moment when the whisper of nature silences our inner monologue and we are overcome by calm and peace, rooted in the present moment, unbothered neither by the past nor the future.

The metaphor of waving grasses is especially evocative. Swayed and rustled by the wind, the stems bend but do not break. Nature's beauty reveals itself as resilient, enduring, and unyielding. These paintings are particularly suited for a space where one seeks a sense of peace and harmony.

About this artwork+

The painting captures a serene sunset scene over a tranquil lagoon. The sky, ablaze with soft hues of pink and orange, gradually transitions into a gentle yellow near the horizon. Beneath this vast expanse, the lagoon mirrors the sunset’s palette with subtle reflections that dance lightly across the water's surface. Surrounding the lagoon, tall, dense reeds and grasses sway, suggesting a gentle breeze. These greens and earth tones anchor the scene, providing a lush contrast to the water's iridescence. Intermittent patches of a winding path, visible through the grass, invite the eye to meander through this natural landscape. In the distance, small, rustic houses dot the low rolling hills, nestled among darker shades of green, which suggest trees or denser foliage. The overall effect is one of tranquil, almost timeless beauty, where the day’s last light lingers over a quiet, pastoral setting.
