All of Gabrielė Prišmantaitė's (born in 1990) paintings have one thing in common - the sensation of wind flowing through them. The grasses she paints seem to sway and ripple, stirred by invisible currents - bending, rustling, and rising again.

The artist herself describes painting as a way of tapping into the mystery of nature, where every single flower contains the universe within itself and that's why every stem, every blade of grass is painted with such tenderness and care. These artworks represent a magical moment when the whisper of nature silences our inner monologue and we are overcome by calm and peace, rooted in the present moment, unbothered neither by the past nor the future.

The metaphor of waving grasses is especially evocative. Swayed and rustled by the wind, the stems bend but do not break. Nature's beauty reveals itself as resilient, enduring, and unyielding. These paintings are particularly suited for a space where one seeks a sense of peace and harmony.

About this artwork+

This painting presents a cozy, culinary-themed still life. In the center lies a vivid red cooking pot with a shiny handle and knob on the lid, suggesting the warmth of a home-cooked meal. To the left of the pot, a round, golden onion and a portion of its papery skin rest gently on the surface alongside a plump sweet potato, tinted with hues of brown and orange. Another sweet potato lies to the front right of the pot, adding depth to the arrangement. On the right side of the painting, a white pitcher holding lush greenery brightens the composition, providing a fresh contrast to the earthy tones of the vegetables and the robust pot. The background features softly striped beige wallpaper, enhancing the homely and autumnal atmosphere of the scene. The painting's watercolor technique gives it a light, fluid feel, with colors blending elegantly on the textured paper.
