Eugis Eidukaitis was born in November 1965 in Siberia, Russia, to a Lithuanian family living in exile. He spent much of his childhood and youth in Chisinau, Moldova, where he first encountered the world of art by attending a local art school. Although he would later complete higher studies and receive a diploma in medicine, art and painting always remained an essential part of his life, occasionally serving as a means of support.

In 2000, Eugis Eidukaitis made his way back to Lithuania, where his involvement with art became even more profound. Once settled, painting and drawing assumed a central and continuous role in his daily existence. This change in surroundings and reconnection with his heritage deepened his dedication to artistic work.

The artist finds his greatest inspiration in both urban and natural scenery. He consciously avoids the temptation to romanticize or exaggerate these views. Instead, his art reveals a compassionate and gentle view of the world, as he searches for the subtle and singular beauty present in every subject he chooses. This approach is most noticeable in his treatment of light and shadow, as well as the distinctive use of rich, yet restrained, colors that permeate his paintings.

Today, works by Eugis Eidukaitis—including paintings and watercolors—are held in many private collections. Through his artwork, he communicates his personal view of the world, infusing a sense of tranquility and appreciation for the ordinary surroundings. Each piece invites viewers to discover and value the quiet beauty hidden in the landscapes they know well.

About this artwork+

The painting depicts a serene pastoral scene, capturing a collection of rustic buildings amidst a lush, green landscape. In the foreground, a wildflower-filled meadow stretches out, speckled with white and subtle hints of red flowers, leading up to a group of quaint houses. The houses, with their white and dark roofs, sit under the shade of towering trees that show a myriad of greens, suggesting the vibrancy of summer. To the right, there is a two-story structure with visible weathering on its walls and a part of its facade glowing in an orange hue, possibly catching the warm light of the sun. The overall atmosphere conveyed is tranquil and idyllic, embodying a typical rural setting possibly near a village. The sky above is partly cloudy with hints of blue peeking through, suggesting a dynamic yet peaceful rural ambiance.
