Rather than taking an expressionist or primitive route, he approaches questions about life and time with calmness and careful consideration.
Lugovojus has chosen to focus primarily on graphic art, particularly emphasizing etching and dry needle techniques. He is recognized for his skillful integration of black-and-white contrasts, merging them into a cohesive visual texture. This unique style reinforces his artistic vision, prompting viewers to reflect thoughtfully on the profound messages found within his pieces.
About this artwork+
The artwork captures the intricate details of a dense, Lithuanian forest predominantly filled with pine trees. The composition focuses on the towering trunks, which stretch vertically across the frame, while a tangle of delicate and wild branches fills the spaces in between, creating a natural and somewhat chaotic mesh that seems to both trap and draw in the viewer's eye. The whole scene is rich in textured lines and varied intensities of ink, conveying both the ruggedness and the silent beauty of the forest. Shades of black and grey dominate, emphasizing a wild, almost primeval atmosphere. The use of light and shadow adds depth, suggesting the complexity of natural forms and perhaps the quiet mystery inherent to such a dense, woodland setting. The forest seems alive, captured in a moment of wild, natural splendor.
