About this artwork+
The painting depicts a serene woman's face, shown in a frontal view. She has a contemplative gaze and a gentle, subtle smile. Her hair is styled in lengthy, elaborate braids adorned with floral designs that blend into the background, which itself is filled with vegetation and additional ornate motifs. Around her neck, she wears a heavy necklace made up of large, rounded beads, enhancing her dignified appearance. In her hands, she holds a medallion or a round locket, which encases an image, seemingly of another woman, contributing an enigmatic element to the artwork. The overall appearance is both intricate and mythical, evoking elements of classical or historical significance.
