Eitvydas Žukas, a rising artist from Lithuania, was born in Kaunas in April 2002. He spent his formative years in his hometown, where he completed high school and developed a strong passion for fine arts. Eitvydas is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in graphics at the Vilnius Academy of Arts (VDA), where he continues to expand his creative abilities and knowledge. Alongside his university studies, he has attended preparatory courses in drawing and architecture at the Academy, and he also spent a short period studying at the Kaunas Antanas Martinaitis Art School.
His artistic approach is marked by the frequent use of cold and dark tones, lending his work a distinctive and authentic mood. Through his art, Eitvydas aims to probe and reveal an unknown and disquieting world of the subconscious, where ordinary characters are transformed into strange and at times unnerving shapes. He strives to uncover the psychological realities of his subjects. In Eitvydas’s view, true art arises from finding equilibrium between discipline and creative liberty, rather than adhering to established rules.
During his artistic development, Eitvydas has taken part in a range of competitions and exhibitions. Among his achievements, he was awarded second place in the Republican drawing competition “Design for the future: sun wind and water 2019,” after which his works were displayed in cultural and educational centers throughout Lithuania. He also participated in the Republican drawing competition “Unrealized cities of dreams” and in the Prof. A. Žmuidzinavičius Drawing Olympiad, both held in 2020. In 2022, he entered the highly regarded Zabolis Art Prize, exhibiting his piece in the VDA Old Hall.
Recent exhibitions underscore Eitvydas’s expanding profile in both local and international art circles. In 2023, he presented an installation at the Kaunas Central Post Office during the “KTU Design Days” show. That same year, his work was chosen for the Artist Book Competition 2024 in Granada, Spain, where it was exhibited. He also showcased an installation at the Graphics Triennial in Krakow, further extending his reach and influence within the art world.

The painting features an abstract depiction of figures, with dominant hues of ochre, black, and warm earth tones, creating a somber and introspective mood. The artwork seems to portray two individuals, one of which is directly visible and more defined, while the presence of the second is suggested by partial forms and overlapping elements. The central figure dons a yellowish-toned garment that drapes and folds around the body. This figure is holding onto the handle of what appears to be a suitcase; the sense of travel or transition is further emphasized by the presence of a series of brownish geometric shapes resembling steps or platforms in the lower left portion beneath the hand clutching the suitcase.
