Anatolijus Ščiogolevas was born and grew up in Vilnius, Lithuania’s capital. From a young age, he exhibited a strong passion for the arts and honed his abilities while studying at Vilnius’s four-year children’s art school. There, he was guided by esteemed Lithuanian artists such as Ignas Budrys, Igoris Piekuras, and Antanas Kmieliauskas, whose mentorship played a significant role in shaping his artistic development.

After concluding his early art studies, Ščiogolevas enrolled at the Vilnius Institute of Engineering Construction—today known as Gediminas Technical University—where he earned an engineering designer degree from the Faculty of Construction. In his professional career, he concentrated on glass-metal construction, expertly combining creativity with technical skill. Although his career was demanding, he maintained a passion for art, devoting his free time to drawing and painting.

Ščiogolevas takes special pleasure in watercolor painting and is committed to perfecting traditional methods. His artistic repertoire encompasses a wide range of subjects, from lively city scenes and tranquil rural views to intricate still lifes and expressive floral artworks. Beyond his personal pursuits, he actively exhibits his work, regularly sharing his evolving artistic achievements with the public.

Deeply engaged in Lithuania’s artistic community, Ščiogolevas holds memberships in several organizations. He is an active member of the Union of Lithuanian Folk Artists, participates in the art studio "Paletė," and belongs to the artists’ club "Plekšnė." His reputation in Lithuania’s artistic scene is further solidified by his recognition within the broader Union of Artists.

About this artwork+

The painting captures a serene morning at the Curonian Lagoon with a soft, muted palette that evokes a tranquil, misty dawn. In the foreground, large, smooth stones and small yellow wildflowers dot the edge of the lagoon. The clear, calm water reflects the subtle hues of the sky and surrounds a wooden boat moored near the shore. A few meters out, another pole is planted in the water, with a buoy floating nearby. Slightly to the right, a dense cluster of reeds extends into the mist, enhancing the painting's depth. Overhead, a group of seagulls soars gracefully in the sky, their forms sketched with quick, fluid strokes that convey motion. The rising sun, barely seen through the haze, casts a gentle light over the entire scene, suggesting the early hour with a warm glow near the horizon. This bucolic scene conveys a profound sense of peace and the timeless beauty of nature.
